Benchmarks and other tests are used to measure progress and capacity in any given field.  Some are better than others and some are more popular than others.  One of the most famous phrases/questions/measures in the typical fitness world is: “How much do you bench?”.  “How much you bench?”.  “Much you bench?”.  The more words you take out of the phrase, the more serious you are about it.  Fran (the WOD you are doing today) is that measure in the world of CrossFit.  Originally done at 85/65 for the Thrusters, this workout has become the most popular and arguably most talked about workout in CrossFit.  The push and pull combination and rapidly declining reps make this a workout that can be done at furious pacing from beginning to end.  World records for the men lay under 2 minutes and Elizabeth Akinwale owns the womens world record at 2:24.  If you happen to be travelling to other gyms at some point or another, use this as a measure of how fit/capable the people there are.  It is a tremendous test, but a terrible pick-up line.
